According to the Dalai Lama "If every 8 year old child in the world were taught to meditate, we would wipe out violence in one generation".
🙋🏽Are your little ones asking to "do yoga"?
🙋🏽Are they curious about what you do when you go to Yoga Class?
There is a reason for this...kids "get" it. There is a natural curiosity about connection with others and it generally starts around the age of 8.
Building on this premise, KC Yoga Center (Zona Rosa) is excited to bring Kids Yoga classes on Tuesday and Thursday of the first full week of each month.
Your kids will have the opportunity to participate in the following:
🙋🏽age appropriate movements
Each class is 45 minutes long and divided up by ages to ensure kids get the most out of their yoga experience.
🕉Arrive a few minutes early to get setup.
🕉Parents are welcome to stay and watch.
🕉$10 per class.

3-6 year olds:
Because your child is growing, moving and learning at such a rapid rate, your child's class will focus on the following:
1️⃣ introduction to movement and body awareness.
2️⃣ the need to move in a safe, mindful way.
3️⃣ self expression through imagination and movement.
Kids must be potty trained, no pull-ups or diapers.
7-10 year olds: Your child at this age probably enjoys the relationships between each other and themselves. Your child is probably ready to explore games and activities to develop that.
Your child's class will focus on the following:
1️⃣ begin to increase strength and stability.
2️⃣ building strength in our core, arms, legs and backs in fun and engaging ways.
3️⃣ playing games that require mindfulness and self-control.
4️⃣ making yoga a fun and enjoyable way to get some exercise.
Pre requisite- Kids must be able to stay on their mats.
11-13 year olds -
This is a big time developmental stage for lots of your kids and sometimes an awkward time...not quite teen, and definitely not "babies"...
Accommodating the uniqueness of this age group, this class will help bridge the gap between play based kids classes and adult classes. It will offer the following:
1️⃣ techniques for self regulating emotions,
2️⃣ using yoga to destress.
3️⃣ bring sense of balance during a big time in development.
4️⃣ breathing practices to reconnect ourselves to our minds and bodies.
Maximum number of kids in each class:
Fourteen 3-6 year olds
Twenty 7-10 year olds
Twenty 11-13 year olds
This class will be taught by Niki Larrea. Niki Larrea is an educator in the North Kansas City School District and has worked with kids for many years. She has two children in two of the age groups mentioned and has been working for over a year to develop this curriculum.
